To Be Worthy

It was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining gently on every little blade of grass and flower, on the bushes and trees, on the busy little creatures like squirrels and rabbits, and on this little girl about ten or twelve years old, whom I am going to tell you about.

Beulah had been living with her aunt who had this rambling garden for almost a year. She was afraid that she would soon be sent away, just as it had happened with other aunts.

The birds were chirping and the butterflies were circling around Beulah, but she did not hear or see them as she shambled along a path. It was as if the mountains of grief had been placed on her shoulders and so she slumped under a tree and allowed endless wells of sorrow to flow from her eyes. All the people who should have taken care of her had left her sooner or later. Her hands were wet, and even her dress was now stained with tears.

But then Beulah felt something powerful around her and looked up. Before her stood a beautiful being with glowing hair and clothes so white that it was almost too hard to look at. If that was not an angel what would be?

She heard a soft but persuasive voice say, "Beulah! Beulah" You have to make your ascension in this life. You can't have that resentment. You can't keep it."

The light washed away all the anger and grief she had ever felt. In the presence of this celestial being, Beulah let go of all resentment. The angel radiated love to her. She had never experienced such high love, and in its presence, she understood she was worthy. Now she knew what a beautiful purpose in life she had and nothing else really mattered. She would always remember and cherish this love.

She looked at the flowers and saw the colorful butterflies as if for the first time. She listened to the birds singing and even tried to imitate them. Then she danced with her arms outstretched, looking at the open sky.
